This is a Bark River Buffalo Skinner prototype, and it is in right-out-of-the-factory condition, never sharpened, carried or used. The knife measures 9-1/4" overall with a 4-1/2" upswept blade that is marked on the left ricasso: "Bark River Knife & Tool/ Bark River Mich, U.S.A." On the right side is marked: "Prototype". The handle is black linen micarta with a hidden tang; the guard is brass. T is no sheath. This knife was made while Bark River Knife & Tool was located in Bark River; as you know, they moved to Escanaba, Michigan about six years ago. We called Mike Stewart, President of Bark River Knife & Tool on Friday, March 13th. 's what Mike told us about the knife: "This is a Buffalo Skinner prototype. We never put the knife into production; we made 6 or 8 prototypes of the Buffalo Skinner. We made this one when we were in Bark River." Mint prototype Bark River knife, no reserve.
