Artist: Title: BarrenCross: Rock For the KingInfo: This classic Barren Cross CD was originally released on Star Song records (1986), then re-issued on Medussa (1990) and recently has been re-issued. I traded for a small number of this classic import re-issue and they will be gone fast! Don't miss this one again. This import re-issue moved the live track to the end of the studio tracks like it should have been all along. It also features the original cover art as well as the Medussa cover art. This is not an M8 re-issue I just traded for some. Band Info: Barren Cross' debut was influenced by classic heavy metal bands like Judas Priest, Queensryche and especially, Iron Maiden. The music is melodic yet heavy and contains some killer hooks, yet it's not overtly commercial. Vocalist Mike Lee has a strong voice, reminiscent of Bruce Dickinson but certainly not a carbon copy of Bruce. The lyrics on "Rock for the King" are definitely coming from a Christian perspective, not unlike contemporaries Stryper, but Barren Cross are a much less pop oriented musically than Stryper and a bit heavier as well. Although they never achieved as much notoriety as their Orange County neighbors Stryper, Los Angeles' Barren Cross were among the best-known Christian (or "white") metal bands to emerge in the 1980s.
