Ben Vaughn's "Apology Line" (the only other piece of outside material) has a supple feel that Whitfield and his past cohorts never attempted. Saxophonist David Sholl is particularly adept at writing songs that push Whitfield's vocals into the stratosp--just listen to "Girl From Outer Space."
