Auction 12 of 12: Archive of Bartholomew family papers and memorabilia in original painted wooden box including Spanish American War letters and photos This old, dingy, hand decorated wooden box contains original family papers from the Bartholomew family of New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Nice bit of history of a New Brunswick, N.J. family. All the documents show their age. Some are in good shape; others are in rougher condition as you can see in the pictures. I highlighted what I thought to be the most interesting documents. You should have some fun discovering all that is Starting low so bidders can set the value. Please ask any questions before bidding. (in first photo) Several early letters (1830s, 1840s, and later) to Mr. and Mrs. Rockwell Bartholomew (parents of Luzerne) in Fairfield, Connecticut, and New Brunswick, N.J., including a letter from a brother of Rockwell dated May 26, 1836 written on board a steamer going down the Ohio River toward St. Louis. T is an 1837 letter from the same brother after he settled in Mendon, Ill. and also an 1847 letter from him in which he attempts to settle the issue of a family debt and extolls the virtues of the rich farmland in the rapidly developing state read more
