Inthis auction I am offering a pleasant young Hitty, looking for employment as a student teacher. She is versed in all of the traditional arts, needlework, cooking, flower-pressing, and knitting, as well as more difficult skills, such as calc, history, and gymnastics. She would love to join an established Hitty household, where she could teach and lend her skills, but with a bit of encouragement, she would be happy to begin as a teacher in a smaller household. She is hand-carved by Julie Old Crow, from basswood. She is 'about' 6 1/2" tall, and is peg-jointed like the original Hitty. Her arms and legs move in tandem. She has been painted with Liquitex paints, and enjoys several thin coats of varnish to protect her finish. She will come to you wearing a lace-trimmed pantalettes and a lovely brown dress with pinkish roses scattered across the surface. She is wearing the traditional 'coral' bead necklace.
