You are bidding on 64 page giant Batman 233 published by DC Comics in 1971. This issue is # G 85 from the legendary run of DC giants and contains a number of reprinted stories from past Batman issues (summarized in some detail below) I purchased this issue on the secondary market in 1988 or 1989. I actually remember locating this copy in Eau Claire Wisconsin along with a half dozen other gorgeous key Batman and Detective issues. The cover is great, no visible flaws, excepting a bus stamp indicating this issue was shipped to Lingle Wyoming, May 13, 1971. It was probably originally purchased from a drug store in that fair burg. The exterior is nearly perfect, with a tight spine and staples. Corners are slightly rounded, edges are straight and there is no chipping or noticeable fading. The interiors are creamy white and the colors remain bright. It is gorgeous. Some might grade this copy higher but I will grade conservatively as VFN+. Since it was purchased it has been properly stored in a my-lite envelope with a backing board, in an acid free box and properly protected from excessive heat, humidity and dust in a smoke free home. All in all this is a fantastic copy of vintage Batman stories. This copy makes a great CGC candidate, but I won't do it. Comics need to be read, smelled and held to be appreciated, not stuffed away in air tight sealed containers. My decision to divest of my collection, one random box at a time is your opportunity to pick up these issues in high grade conditions at very reasonable prices, far below Overstreet guide values($76 for this issue). Please note that I am not a dealer, but a sophisticated and discerning private collector of over 40 years and each issue as listed is the only one available. All reprints: "The Death-Cheaters of Gotham City" (art by Jim Mooney; from Batman 72), "The Other Bruce Wayne" (from Batman 111), "The Murder of Bruce Wayne" (from World's Finest 58), "Bruce Wayne's Aunt Agatha" (from Batman 89), and Batwoman guest starring in "The Crime of Bruce Wayne" (from Detective 249). Cover price $0.25. Eighty-Page Giant was, specifically, a 15-issue series from DC Comics between 1964 and 1965. Each issue featured a different character or series, and the interiors consisted of reprints taken mainly from the previous decade. More generally, the 80PG series was an open-ended series of giant-sized books that ran through most of DC's more popular titles during the period of 1961 through 1971. The very first eighty-pagers were several regular series' Annual issues, with the 80PG notation on the cover; though not included in the regular numbering of this series, the annuals have been retroactively included in with the larger format run. The actual fifteen-issue 80PG series began in August of 1964 with an issue logically devoted to Superman , and would end with number fifteen in October of '65 devoted to World's Finest . Thereafter, certain issues of different titles would continue the series but would continue their regular issue numbering also, their Giant issue number being denoted by a G - for example, Flash #169 would contain on its cover the '80 pg.
