They were very popular and became scarce (and expensive!) rather quickly and so in 1936 Lippincott produced a series of reproductions of the Bishop's Birds. Each reproduction carried a facsimile signature and title in light photogravure to replicate pencil, along with the word 'repro' neatly below the artwork. The detail and reproduction of the Lippincott series is extremely nice. This print is from the Lippincott series, produced in 1936, and so is over 70 years old but in MAGNIFICENT condition! If you can't afford $300-500 or more for the 1920s Drypoint version, then this 1930s version is a credible, suitable alternative.
