From the Battle of Gettysburg, a Confederate surgeon's report to the Adjutant of the 8th Louisiana Division Early's Division, 2nd Corps Army of Northern Virginia, indicating that two injured men were abandoned on the battlefield in Gettysburg due to a lack of suitable transportation: Sam M.
