Up for your consideration is this Portrait Plate, made by Z. S. & C. of Bavaria. The company used this mark between 1880 and 1918. So that's as close as I can get to dating it. The plate is approximately 9.5" across and features a lovely dark green border (which fades to lighter toward the center), with applied gold scrollwork or vine detail. The main figures are a young mother and child, although I suppose it could be a niece and her aunt??? The process of putting the figures in the center appears to be a transfer mode - not hand-painting. In remarkably good condition for its age - the only issues I can find are some slight scratches over the ends of the deep red scarf or cumberbund around the older woman (about 1.2" from her elbow).
