Bawo & Dotter (Elite) Limoges Floral/Gilt Nut Bowl, c.1900 Description: An old and really lovely nut bowl from Bawo & Dotter (Elite), Limoges c.1900 - 1914. Handpainted purple & pale green flowers and green leaves are all around the perimeter, on a high gloss white ground. The opening is scalloped, ruffled and heavily gilt. Beautifully done. Unglazed bottom. Heavy-weight and beautifully made. See photos... Dimensions: 1 1/4" tall; 6 1/2" in diameter Markings: stamped on the bottom: underscored "Elite" over "L" over "France" "Elite Works" with their crest, "Limoges" "France" Condition: Excellent. No breaks, chips or discoloration. T is some gold loss at certain points around the perimeter - you can see it in the photos. T's also an extremely fine & light hairline crack on the back on the perimeter. You can't see it at all on the front - I believe it's a glaze crack. None of which detract from it's beauty... Additional Info: PH Leonard was a New York City based importer of Limoges and German porcelains from the 1880's until 1908. Porcelains they imported appear to have been factory decorated but bear Leonard's export mark rather than the factory decorating mark...
