I've been collecting Beach Boys memorabilia for over 35 years and have decided to open up my archives and let other collectors enjoy some of my treasures. I'm also the author of the novel, The Noble Surfer, published in 2002. For auction is a classic. It's a class photo of Dennis Wilson's 1st Grade Class at the York School in Hawthorne, California, Spring 1952. Dennis is top row center. Every time I look at this photo the old cartoon, "Dennis The Menace," comes to mind. What makes this photo even more unusual is the teacher's name, "Mrs. Morgan." The Beach Boys earliest known recordings are of course, The Hite-Morgan Sessions. I'm sure this Mrs. Morgan was not connected but nevertheless, it is a strange coincidence. Adding to the intrigue of this photo is the story of how it was found. It was found by a man named Brian Douglas at a garage sale in Hawthorne. As you may know, Brian Wilson's middle name is Douglas. The elderly woman holding the garage sale was probably the mother of one of the kids in the photo. Each of the children's names are written in ink beneath their individual photos.
