This is a very beautiful, old Victorian wall cabinet made from solid oak. It is a perfect size for the living room, bedroom, bath or den. It is approximately 16" wide X 38" long X 4" deep. It has glass shelves, and a glass door. What really makes this a nice decorating piece is the detail. The glass door is framed with a very unusual egg and dart pattern. It is unusual because t is a star embossed into each "egg" in the design. The bottom of the cabinet is fitted with a pediment that has a very detailed floral design topped by wings of acanthus leaves. Topping off the cabinet is crown molding with a beautiful victorian design carved into it. The hinges and clasp are solid brass. Take a look at the details in the photos, this is a very unusual piece. This cabinet most likely started its' life as a case for a fine clock because the bottom half of the door is wavy old glass, but the top half, although appearing old, is somewhat less disorted leading me to believe this was the area for the face of the clock. It was not uncommon in fine old clocks to reserve a premium piece of glass for the face of the clock, and a lesser quality piece for the pendulum area. The glass shelves were probably added later.
