Up for auction here is a Beautifully Ornate Etruscan Revival Cross Locket. This is just the pendant. I do not have the chain that may have gone with it. Let me also start by emphasizing I do not know the history of this unique cross locket. After it was donated to my church with some costume jewelry I did some looking online to see if I could find something out about this type of cross. Apparently during the 1940s and 1950s there was an Etruscan Revival. I believe this piece likely was made during that period of time but I DO NOT KNOW for sure. Characteristics of Etruscan jewelry was it's elaborate design, lots of use of filigree and use of gold-tone and precious stones. I do not know for sure but I do not believe this cross has precious stones and I do not believe the material used was gold. I do not know what this cross is made of or what those stones are that are part of it's design. Cross is hinged on both sides and has opening notches/levers near the Pearl inset and near the bottom of the cross. When you open it there is another cross inside that has little indents in it. It almost looks like something is suppose to be inside those little indents but there is nothing there now. This cross is about 3 inches long including the top loop shape. It is about 3/8 of an inch wide. Please view all the photos I have provided in order read more
