Belleek is very much like Opera for many people. If you love it with a passion you will love it with a passion all your life. With all the mystique of the Irish Legends this wonderful pottery is beguiling from the translucency of the material to the featherweight pieces that have been created over the decades. This is sweet little mustard pot, not something we come across oftern in our travels, with the " BLACK MARK " for the period 1927 to 1941 period. Belleek is a type of pottery, ultra fine and ultra translucent, made in Ireland by David McBirney& Co, under the "Belleek Pottery " mark since approximately 1863. NO QUESTION of QUALITY and a fabulous place fro someone looking to collect something to start. This marvelous piece as stated has the Black Mark and is in " shell "form. That is to say the sides have been moulded to look like the exterior of an oyster shell. Little shamrocks have been placed in the centers of each of the shells. A small shamrock trio has been placed on the lid. Belleek if you notice very often groups their designs in "3s ". Exceptional little piece in good condition. the only we thing see to point out is a tiny firing mark on one of the shells and another tiny firing line just under the spoon opening. Not unexpected on this ultra fine porcelain.... Please review our other listings , 250 + , which we will read more
