You are bidding on a high quality photogravure prints dating from 1918. This image depicts Benjamin Franklin at Whitehall Chapel (London) meeting with the Lords in Council. Benjamin Franklin (1706 – 1790) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. A noted polymath, Franklin was a leading author and printer, satirist, political theorist, politician, postmaster, scientist, inventor, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat. As a scientist, he was a major figure in the American Enlightenment and the history of physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. He invented the lightning rod, bifocals, the Franklin stove, a carriage odometer, and the glass 'armonica'. He formed both the first public lending library in America and the first fire department in Pennsylvania.Lots of detail! This incredibly beautiful photogravure is on thick paper. There is a detailed story on the back that describes the image. Tons of detail in this print, and a beautiful sepia (brown) tone. This would look wonderful framed. The page measures approx. 9.25 x 6.75 inches (23.5 x 17.2 cm) with just a narrow margin and a small caption below. This is NOT a recent copy or modern reproduction, but a GENUINE antique item. I stand behind my products and offer a FULL REFUND if you think the product does not match the description in any way. read more
