The Best of WALT DISNEY COMICS (1974) This incredible series was produced by Western Publishing as "A Golden Special" in 1974. Each book is 52 pages, 8.5" x 11", square-bound and printed in full color on good quality heavy paper with cardboard covers. The Overstreet Guide states that only 32,000 copies of each book were printed. The four books in the set are as follows: Uncle Scrooge from the year 1952 featuring "Only a Poor Old Man" from US four color 386 (#1), "The Million Dollar Pigeon" from US #7 and "The Water Tank Money Bin" from US four color 495 (#3 - first appearance of Scrooge's #1 dime.) All stories and art by Carl Barks. Donald Duck from the year 1944 featuring "Frozen Gold" and "Mystery of the Swamp" from DD four color 62 (#3). All stories and art by Carl Barks. Donald Duck from the year 1947 featuring "The Ghost of the Grotto" from DD four color 159 (#6) and "Christmas on Bear Mountain" from DD four color 178 (#7 - very first appearance of Uncle Scrooge.) All stories and art by Carl Barks. Mickey Mouse from the year 1934 which reprints "Mickey Mouse and the Bat Bandit of Inferno Gulch" from the 1934 Mickey Mouse newspaper strips by Floyd Gottfredson. I am selling these books as a set only. I will not break them up. The only defects are normal shelf wear. T are no creases, folds, bends, writing, tears or stains. read more
