Printed by John Hayes, Printer to the University: for George Sawbridge And are also to be sold by John Martin, Robert Horne, Henry Brome, Richard Chiswell, Robert Boulter, John Wright, and William Jacob, Booksellers in London, 1672 Samuel Newman (May 10, 1602 - July 5, 1663) was a clergyman in colonial Massachusetts. Mr. Newman graduated from Trinity College, Oxford in 1620 and took orders in the Church of England. He emigrated to Massachusetts Bay Colony about 1636. Newman's famous Concordance was the third in English ever published. The first edition was published in London in 1643. Later, he revised and greatly improved it. The second edition was published at Cambridge in 1662 and the concordance was usually known after that as the Cambridge Concordance . The concordance was reprinted at least as late as 1889, almost 250 years after it was first published.
