Here is a very nice old commemorative medal made of wood, perhaps walnut, in quite splendid condition overall, measuring app. 3" across, with a plain edge naturally and a high obverse relief. This gorgeous and important patriotic piece shows only the slightest wear on the high points, and it has great color, with astounding detail, down to the couples and buggies seen near the bottom. I have not cleaned the medal in any manner, and three of the scans have been "enhanced" for clarity, but since my scanner does not give great perspective, I have also taken six photos. The medal is about 3/8" thick, with a little reverse color variation, some small imperfections and tiny thin fractures nothing overly distracting. The obverse pictures "Memorial Hall", as the beautiful domed structure is named at the top, the dates "1776" and "1876" at the upper sides, "International Exhibition" at the bottom. The center of the reverse reads "4th Of July 1876 - Exhibition Open From May 10 To Nov. 10 1876 - Fairmount Park - Philadelphia", with "The 100th Anniversary Of American Independence" around the top, stars at the lower sides and "U.S. America" at the bottom. Lovely! $4.99
