Cool old antique cast iron floor safe on casters. It's big, it's heavy. Brass plaque on front door has high relief image of two men putting things in (or taking out of) a safe, while firemen are trying to put out a fire in the background. Border of plaque reads C. Rich & Co. Patent Salamander Safe A. S. Marvin, Agent 138-1/2 Water St. N. York. Another plaque on bottom front edge of safe reads Wilders Patent June, 1843. Green paint on side panels and interior - believe original. Several large areas of rust--with bubbling underneath the paint. Interior has has mahogany dividers and a single drawer. Slide out shelves a bit warped, drawer pulls missing, could not get drawer to lock with key. Pockmarks and chips to inside liner material--see pics of inside of door (4 and 6). Neat old big brass key, impressed with numbers 1617. Numbers on door knob match key number. Lock works. Casters functional. Not sure how heavy this thing is -- maybe 450 lbs or more. Dimensions - Exterior - 32" tall (including casters), 27" not including casters, 21" deep, 21" wide. Interior - 17" high, 10-1/2" wide, 11" deep.
