This is a fabulous antique sterling silver Victorian locket. It has English hallmarks on the outside with a date letter that I think is a t or f dating it to the late 1800âe(tm)s, the anchor for Birmingham, the Lion Passant for sterling silver, and the makerâe(tm)s initials âeoeP.W.C.âe On the bale t is a Lion Passant mark. On the inside t is the date letter and Lion Passant on one side and hand scratched on both sides is a large âeoeKâe. It has a wonderful hand chased design on both sides and around the edge. It measures approx. 1-7/8 inches tall without the bale, 2-3/8 inches tall with the bale, 1-1/2 inch wide, and around 3/8 inch thick. It has some minor wavy spots on the side with the ivy leaves âe" it is noticeable when you run your finger over it âe" t is a small shallow ding on the edge that measures approx. 3mm across âe" see middle left picture. The rest is in very good vintage condition with only very minor normal surface wear. The hinge is straight and it closes tightly and securely with a nice snap. It weighs13.6 grams.
