This auction is for a stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Crucilobiceras densinodulum from the world famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK. The fossil measures 35 mm (1.37 inches) across which is large for this species and fossil type. It has a wonderful golden colour and shine distinctive of pyrite ammonites from this location. It is beautifully preserved to the centre on both sides. The ribs are very finely defined as are the suture lines making this a wonderful collector's specimen. A great example of the species and very beautiful. Around 195 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection. These large pyrite ammonites are becoming much harder to find these days. I have had this one in my personal collection for many years.
