Big Japanese Carpenter's Wood Plane Signed Old Nice Old Japanese carpenter's wood plane, about 10" long. This wood plane has been used but is in very good condition. Signed in the metal blade with three sets of stacked Kanji characters. Metal blade is about 2-1/4" wide and in good condition. T's a piece of old cardboard under the blade. Japanese wood plane blades are made with some of the same steel and techniques as samurai swords. Wood body is Japanese oak. T's a wood dovetail insert in the bottom near the blade (see photo) to reinforce the area. T are many years of good work left in this classic wood working tool. Everyone should have at least one Japanese plane, whetstone and saw in the wood shop. See our vintage Japanese whet stone and plane now up.
