Billy Ray Hussey (born 1955) is a contemporary North Carolina potter whose roots in the pottery tradition are quite deep indeed. He is the great-grandson of the Steeds, NC potter J. H. Owens (1866 âe" 1923). His grandmotherâe(tm)s brother was the well-known potter M. L. Owens, and it was in M. L. Owensâe(tm) pottery shop that Billy Ray Hussey learned his craft.
