zipzoom Highly Fluorescent Opal Geode ('Bird's Nest' Geode) - Thomas Range (Topaz Mountain)¸ Juab County Utah. Miniature. Here we have something that is brand new (discovered in June¸ 2009) from the famous Thomas Range (Topaz Mountain) in Utah¸ Highly fluorescent opal geodes (bird's nest geode). These geodes contain highly florescent spherical mammilary aggregates of translucent white to bluish-white colored opal along with some minor amounts of chalcedony. The shape of the geode along with the spherical mammilary opal is reminiscent of a 'bird's nest' complete with eggs! The opal is highly fluorescent and will fluoresce a very bright yellowish-green color with SHORT and a medium bright green with LONG wave ultraviolet light (see photo). The fluorescence is much brighter with short wave. 201100115b blank blank blank blanktopazminer_minerals_and_fossils
