Nice antique 1880's-90's Bixby Blacking box,S.M.Bixby & Co.New York that has survived the years fairly well.This box is 11.5" x 11.5",3 3/4" deep,finger jointed corners,some sort of wire hinge kinda like an early staple( the right side one is in need of repair,it is t but has loosened.The box has all the original labels,one on top gives great detail about the product but is hard to read,50-60% is legible,the 2 side labels are t but peeling off,the front side label is in pretty good condition and the inside lid label is absolutely wonderful,completely intact.This shows the New York Boot Black Brigade at work shining a pair of boots, super nice detail. The wood box has developed a great age patina. Add to your advertising box collection and thanks for looking !
