Most unusual circa 1860-1865 sixth plate tintype depicting a balding man with face pointing downward with hands up to his neck. A bushy mustache can be seen on top of the hand that is closest to his chin. I really have no idea why he is in this weird position. Perhaps a medical problem with his neck that forces him to look downward? But then why not photograph from a lower angle so his face is visible. Maybe a propped up post-mortem? There is original paper tape on the back of the tintype that was used to hold plate, mat and cover glass together. Image is in virtually pristine condition with no bends, scratches or other wear marks. Tintype resides in full leather case. Please check my other auctions. Posted with eBay Mobile
