These pieces have not been cut, but similar jade from the same source has been found to be fine grained, dense and hard, and takes a beautiful shine. This 2 pound box contains pieces that average 2-3 inches.The source of this jade is limited. It is from an old, long closed claim in the Owl Creek Range and it could be referred to as old stock. The jade from this claim is unique in that it formed in discrete lenses, sometimes with swooping curves, amazing textures and even botryoidal form.Pictures show the piece both wet and dry.OWL 102Nephrite jade from Wyoming is some of the finest jade in the world. It is a mineral rich in calcium, magnesium, and iron that has tough, hard, and interwoven fibers.
