This item is very unique and I would say rare since I have never seen anything even remotely like it. Two wooden black lacquer horns adorned with exquisite scrimshaw carvings of dragons and birds. The scales on the dragon are inset snake skin, very clever use of introduced material. The dragon wraps completely around the horn and the tail can be seen above the dragon's head. I don't know the artist as the work is not signed that I can find. I can't stress enough how intricate and detailed and perfect these horns are. The only flaw is that one dragon has lost the shiny cover to the eye, although you really have to look to see it. If you appreciate Asian artifacts and scrimshaw, this is a truly great combination. The pair measure 14" tall with 5" x 3" bases. If you have any questions, please email me. Thank you for looking and happy bidding. If you purchase more than one item from me, additional items will ship for only $1.00 each.
