Large Black Pipestone Excellent Frog Effigy Peace Pipe This is another great piece from my personal collection which I have been downsizing. Please take a moment to check my other listings. This is an awesome piece. This pipe is Black Pipestone hand carved into an excellent Frog Effigy. The pipe is a long style with incisions around the stack and stem and a frog grasping onto the stem. This piece is a highly detailed, hand carved by Tali a Native American Master Carver, signed one-of-a-kind. The Native Americans did not smoke pipes for the sake of smoking as people do today. They believed smoking to be very spiritual and combined it with prayer and communion with the Great Spirit. That to me is what makes effigy pipes so interesting. There is always a reason for the particular effigy, Not simply decoration. These pipes were always treated with great care and respect. This pipe measures over 6 inches long and 3 inches tall.
