This hardy hot cut has a base of mild steel with a blade of leaf spring, which is generally 5160 or equivalent steel. The blade area was then air quenched. Shank is 1 1/8". Two are included in photo for illustration purposes only. Each bid represents one hardy hot cut. 1 1/8" is the usual hardy hole size for one of the Harbor Freight Russian manufactured anvils. However, I recommend the buyer purchase one with a 1" shank and then either make or purchase a sleeve to reduce the hardy hole size down to 1". I sell such sleeves in my eBay store (see below). Likely some day the buyer will upgrade to a better quality anvil which will likely have a 1" hardy hole. Thus, you can still use your tooling without having to grind down the shafts. Subject to availability I have hardy hot cuts made out of case-hardened mild steel, oil-quenched 1040, air-quenched 0-1 and air-quench leaf spring blade (normally 5160 stock) with either 3/4", 7/8", 1" and 1 1/8" hardy shanks. If you do a keyword search on hot cut within my listings and don't find what you wanted listed that means I have sold out of that particular steel, type or shank size. Also please note I have several hundred blacksmithing/ironworking related products listed in my eBay store: Poor Boy Blacksmith Tools. My emphasis is on providing tooling to the beginning or hobby blacksmith at
