This very beautiful Blenko Water Bottle is in the very popular and gorgeous Ruby color . This particular example is from 2010 and is sandblasted on the base.It is difficult to find for any year between 2000 to 2008, and 2010. I have seen several from 2009 and 2011 and almost no other years. Just one in 2004, 2005 and 2010 over a span of many years of collecting. I was originally keeping this one in an attempt to collect one from every year they were made this century, but I soon realized that this would be an impossible task. So now I decided to sell the only one I have from 2010. Perhaps Blenko made more Ruby Water Bottles during the 2 years 2009 & 2011. Since 2011 was the last year that Blenko made the iconic water bottle in Ruby, any date is now difficult to find. Who knows if they will ever bring this wonderful color back. I heard they stopped making them due to difficulties getting the color right and maybe due to the expense. I heard it takes Gold to make Ruby and Pink Ice, both formulas (colorants) would have to contain a certain quantity of this rare mineral. A lot of the later ones had amber in them making them look different. Almost like a rust color. This is probably why they called the 2013 special mini series February color "Cinnamon" even though some of those minis did turn out Ruby. It's nice to have both variations. read more
