Bloody Basin Jasper Polished RockThis lovely red and black Bloody Basin Jasper piece is slabbed and polished on one face, left natural rough everywhere else.This polished rock does stand for display or could be recut.It is 4.5 inches by 4 inches and 1.5 to 2 inches thick. It weighs 2.5 lbs.This pretty Red Jasper is named Bloody Basin Jasper because it comes from Bloody Basin, Arizona.This area is not named for the red rock, but is actually named for when in March 1873, U.S. Army soldiers tracked a band of Apaches who had attacked and killed three people to nearby Turret Peak.The soldiers attacked at dawn and between 25 to 57 Indians were killed.Metaphysical Properties: Red Jasper is called a stone of fairness and justice because mystical lore claims that it decreases unjustness and helps in unfair situations. It is also said to enhance responsibility, choice, and compassion. Used in mystical dreamwork, it can enhance dream recall. Red Jasper is said to assist in protection and rescue from danger.
