Miss Faye, a dear family friend has asked my help in Mid- life paring. Her basement is chock full of goodies. After a few husbands, In-laws, kids, and a hobby of remodeling old houses (she's done 4 I believe), she's doing the mid-life pare down (I laugh, she's almost 60 and doing 70) I am now near an expert on any of her stuff, so I'll describe what she's selling to the best of my ability, spiced with her notes and provenance ... Up for auction is a Vintage Candy Jar/Dish with Lid-Blue Onion design made by Blue Danube approx 1951-1976. The Pedestal Candy Jar/Dish is almost 14 cm tall X 19.5cm across(incl handles). No Chips, Cracks, Crazing or Repairs. Still very shiny. Backstamp says "Blue Danube" in script in a banner, "reg. u.s. pat. off." underneath. Postal insurance required- No UPS to P.O.Boxes. In researching this piece- the replacement value for a 14 cm Pedestal Candy Jar is listed at one of the replacement websites for $57.90 (that would be a new one- not vintage). Also "The original backstamp was used from 1951-1976. This has the words Blue Danube in script on a ribbon banner with the words Reg. US. Pat. Off. underneath. The Rectangular Backstamp with printing dates from 1977-1996. The current stamp has script words Blue Danube and a swirl decorative line Â"frameÂ" around them."
