Iridescent Calcite Double Keokuk Geodeclosed geode dimensions: 3-1/ 2 in X 2-5/8 in X 1-5/8 inweight: 10.0 ozThis Keokuk geode is my favorite variety iridescent brown calcite. Not one, but two formed adjacent to one another. Both have a lining of pseudocubic calcite crystals which have ingested the iron mineral goethite making them iridescent and reflecting hues of blue-green off of its crystals' faces. A later growth of lustrous clear rhombic calcite crystals formed atop the brown adding to its fascinating crystalline beauty.
