Made by an unknown potter c.1810-1815 in commemoration of the death of Lord Nelson in 1805, this scarce mid-blue transfer ware plate is known as 'The Apotheosis of Nelson' or as 'Neptune'. It depicts King Neptune in his chariot accompanied by Britannia, within a border of ships, weapons and portraits of naval heroes with Nelson at the top. It is in excellent condition with a lovely glossy glaze and no damage. Diameter 9 3/4" (24.5"). Payment or contact within 48 hours of end of auction, please.
