NOTE: I LISTED THIS ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND THE WINNER BACKED OUT. SO IT IS AGAIN AND I AM STARTING THE BIDDING MUCH LOWER THAN BEFORE. PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE. TY. .................. Not much has been written about this period of Bobs life. This is from the period when he released NEW MORNING, JOHN WESLEY HARDIN, and NASHVILLE SKYLINE. I MAY BE ABLE TO CALL OTHER INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS THROUGH YAHOO WITH NO COST. In a funny way, i guess my parting with this harp is autobiographical. As a child approaching adolescence, I grew up in the hills of Woodstock, NY. This was in the mid 60s. I would walk to the bus stop each morning on Byrdcliff Mt. and wait for my elementary school bus. T were about 3 or 4 kids at my bus stop. Of course, we were all different ages but we chatted amongst each other (even though at that age even a year could seem like 10.........the young "generation gap";-). I was in or around 6th grade. One time when we got off the bus after school, this little girl (Maria) asked me to walk her home. Usually t was always someone t to pick her up but this time t was no one waiting for her. Even though she lived only 1/8 mile from the bus stop (and so did I only slightly in a different direction) she was nervous to walk home alone. She was 6yrs younger than me so I guess that would have put her in 1st grade? At any rate, we all had to go to Woodstock elementary school which was about 3 miles away. So anyway, this little girl was in tears. She asked me to walk her home. Now I knew w she lived and that it wasn't that far from my house, so I said "yes". We got to about 100 yrds from her house. Realizing that I was now about 500 yards from my house, and even though I was in 6th grade, I was getting kind of freaked out myself (go figure). In my own way I still really hadn't grown up enough to be independent "so to speak". So, I said she had to just walk the rest of the way herself, knowing it was literally a stones throw from the point w I was going to leave her. She begged me to walk her the rest of the way. I knew it was silly for her to worry about the rest of her walk, but I also yearned for the familiarity of my own home (we just lived on parallel streets and live quite close to each other in reality (a very quick walk through the woods).........but, everything seemed to be ominous. So I left the little girl only a short walk to her house and cut through the woods so I could get home. Woodstock at the time was almost all dirt or shale roads. Dense trees, vines, and thickets divided homes up on Byrdcliff Mt. w we lived. At the time, I still needed the small familiarities of home, like my mothers voice, or the sky above my house to feel comfortable and safe (lord knows how that little girl felt even though I left her VERY close to her home). Well, her full name was Maria Lounds and shortly to become Maria Dylan. Because we were so Isolated in the woods of Byrdcliff Mt., most all people in the immediate area became friends. My stepfather was a visual artist (a painter....NOT a house painter ;-). He (I am not sure how) became friendly with Marias' dad. So, I began to see this guy (apparently a musician) around the house, and in my dads studio w he painted. This "guy" was Bob Dylan and he and my dad became good friends, best friends it seemed as our families began to spend every major holiday together. I remember at least two New Years Eves sitting at the Dylan house talking and hanging out into the nite, just our two families. I guess I could speak volumes about this and all the mysteries and people of Woodstock in the mid to late 60s. But this is NOT about my lack of writing skills (lol) as I am a musician (can you guess why?). This is an auction for a harmonica that Bob gave me.
