RARE BOER WAR JAMES DIXON & SON FLASK HUNTING C1890 Search Description PLEASE READ MY TERMS AND CONDITIONS BELOW BEFORE BIDDING. POSTAGE DISCOUNT GIVEN FOR MULTIPLE PURCHASES. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING . Rare Flask made by James Dixon & Son C1890 and used during the Boer War. When purchased the flask was not fully going to the bottom of the leather case causing the lid to be slightly raised. On inspection I could see a small bit of paper crumpled in the bottom. when removed it was part of a newspaper the "Cape Times , Monday, March 5, 1900". On the newspaper is part of an article about a battle in the Boer War. The newspaper was put in the case I believe to make the flask a looser fit and therefore much easier to remove especially when on a horse. The Flask and case are in good condition with just some wear to the plate to be expected and some stretching to the leather flap lid which is because of use and the flask being not fully in the case over the last 110 years. This Flask was probably used for Hunting after the War Years. This is a really nice item and with its interesting history (if only it could talk) would make a wonderful item to use or to add to the Military or Hunting collection.
