I am in the process of building a display of high grade reproduction American Bowie knives in an attempt to educate novice collectors of what to look for in a fake knife. A good friend had a large collection of counterfeit knives that he used to display alongside his genuine Confederate D-Guards and side knives.Since he is no longer showing, I bought his entire collection of fakes &/or misrepresented knives to meld with the knives I have already selected to display at my next knife show.Some of his knives didn't make the cut (pun intended) & I am selling the surplus off . Most if not all of these knives have been published in a guide on Collecting Confederate Bowie Knives.This offering is for one of the most infamous reproduction D-Guard Bowies.I have seen this knife (artificially aged and altered) bring thousands of dollars.It breaks my heart when I see a beaming novice collector bouncing down the aisle at a show with one of these knives because I know that in a few minutes I am going to have to poop in his frosted flakes. As repro's go, this knife is fairly attractive.It reminds me of a Kenansville D-Guard I have in my collection. It is 17 1/4" overall with a 12 1/2" blade.The D-guard is iron or steel and the grips are very nice hardwood.It is lightly stamped "India" on the blade.This light stamping would allow a shyster to remove
