Signed and numbered 199 of an edition of 300 in pencil by the artist. Leonard H. Mersky was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1917. He attended schools in Boston and Brookline and received his formal art training at the Massachusetts College of Art. While in art school, he became interested in etching and studied privately, for several years, with the late William Harry Warren Bicknell, considered by many critics to be one of the finest etchers in the country. During his art school years, he studied with some of the most artists of the time, namely: Cyrus Dallin, Ernest L. Major, Richard Andrew and Otis Philbrick. Mersky's works were exhibited at the Intrepid Gallery, Boston; Dodge House Gallery, Chatham, Heavy Mettle Press, Hyannis; and the Dade County Art Museum, South Miami, Florida. Mr. Mersky was a member of the Copley Society of Boston.
