- Sold this previously on ebay but buyer refused to pay because i do not take Paypal payments------All 12 issues of Boys Life Magazine--the entire year of 1952--- taken from the Boy Scouts Files are bound in this one volume--a File Copy BOUND VOLUME highlighted by 4 consecutive 1952 issues, September thru December, 1952 featuring a COMPLETE 4-part Sci-Fi story by Heinlein titled, "TRAMP SPACE SHIP" ( "They take off from the Moon and travel among the asteroids in a second hand 'Tramp Space Ship'.......With an antiquated Space Scooter, a weak radio compass, and a 160-year-old pilot, the twins are off on a lost man hunt in the Asteroids...") --hard to find the story complete. 1st time story ever appeared!!! Illustrated by Hal Sherman, with the full color front cover for the first chapter of the story painted by WILLIAM HEASLIP (the September issue). all 4 issues complete the Heinlein story. also, all 12 issues in this year include great ads (Many full color Coca-Cola, Buck Rogers Space Ranger Kit, Roy Rogers motorboat ad--with his full cowboy outfit on in the boat--Ted Williams, Joe Dimaggio, etc.), artists such as NORMAN ROCKWELL, John Cullen Murphy, etc., stories by such as William Hallstead 3rd, Paschal N. Strong, Andrew Hall, etc., articles (Jack London article, Jock Mahoney bio, Phil Rizzuto, Bobby Schantz baseball, etc.), photos etc. PLUS.....The same 4 issues featuring the HEINLEIN story ARE THE FIRST FOUR ISSUES TO FEATURE THE SPECIAL COMICS SECTION which proved SO popular in this Mag!!! The comics section started with the Sept.,1952 issue!!!, - (Again, the September issue being the VERY 1st to contain this COMICS SECTION EVER!!! ). it consisted of 8 pages (expanded to 12 over a year later) featuring a comic adaptation of Percy K. Fitzhugh's PEE WEE HARRIS drawn by the great, though underappreciated, BILL WILLIAMS (Dell Comics Henry Aldrich artist and frequent collaborator with Little Lulu's JOHN STANLEY). Anyone who read this magazine for the next 40 years remembers this full page strip very fondly. The strip, SPACE CONQUERORS also started with this 1st comics issue. Tales of Kit Carson AND famed golden-age super hero artist Craig Flessel included also---to approximate a "Sunday Section" of comics, these 8 pages were printed in full color on newsprint in the center section of the Mags. VERY, VERY historically important 4 consecutive issues featuring the 4 part complete HEINLEIN serial story plus the very FIRST FOUR issues featuring a COMICS section included in the 1952 full year Bound Volume straight from the Boys Scouts Files!!! --condition is SO nice--no creases or markings on covers. Professionally bound, of course, right off the presses.
