VINTAGE ORIGINAL SOLID BRASS VICTORIAN FARIES ADJUSTABLE INDUSTRIAL READING TABLE LAMP IN OUTSTANDING CONDITION circa 1890's - PRE OC WHITE ERA. DESIGN: This unique early adjustable Faries solid Brass table/desk reading lamp is simply designed with subtle Victorian styling. It has 2 primary points of articulation on the supporting base post which allows it to heighten and on the socket/shade assembly which allows the shade to be fixed and angle to different positions. CONDITION: Overall the lamp is in outstanding condition, there are minor signs of use with no bending, cracks or evident repair. The lamp parts are all solid Brass (with the exception of the cast iron base weight}, which shows light surface wear and some tarnish patina from age. The lamp retains an original push through switch "Bryant" Brass socket which is electrically sound and functions safely, the power cord has been replaced with braided cotton wrapped insulated wire which is completely functional and safe. The opalescent Milk glass fluted shade is virtually perfect with no obvious chips or cracks evident, the fitter bears a patent mark of 1890. The Brass shrouded weighted base is equally as clean with no dings or dents.
