Up for auction is an hard to find cast iron spittoon made by Briggs-Shaffner Co. It is embossed with Briggs- Shaffner Co. Winston -Salem N.C. The company started in 1897 and I believe this was made around that time. It is 4 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter. It is a heavy piece, at just over 10 lbs. It is in good condition with no cracks. It has the normal signs of minor surface oxidation appropriate to the time period. The top has normal use knicks around the center hole. Condition is quite good for an early piece of cast iron. This will make a super addition to any spittoon or cast iron collection! Please feel free to email me with any questions before bidding.
