or sale is a super rare 1923 postcard of Carlisle Packing Co at Levelock Alaska Bristol Bay on the Kvichak River. This was a beached floating cannery,photo was most likely taken from cannery and show's dock's. Hundred's of Barrel's of salted salmon can be seen on the dock and the tent's were for the saltery or support.This card is super rare, the Carlisle Packing Co Cannery was only in operation during the 1922 and 1923 season's.In the background you can see the Libby Graveyard at Koggiung AlaskaBelow is a paragraph from the National Park Service History of Bristol Bay Salmon Canneries.Proceeding eastward, on the west side of Kvichak Bay, the reader will first encounter Bristol Bay Packing Company's saltery at King Salmon Creek and "Whitehead Pete" Nelson's saltery at Squaw Creek (sic). The coverage continues upstream on the west side of the Kvichak River at Levelock where the Carlisle Packing Company had a floating cannery beached at the village. Moving across the Kvichak from Levelock to the east side of the river and proceeding downriver near the mouth of Alagnak River (Hallersville and Lockanok)Please see photo's for more on condition.
