This large and unusual sword is similar to British c.1800's military hanger type swords but differs in that it has a long cavalry, hatchet style blade in the manner of the British 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper's Sword. Probably issued to cavalry troopers. Marked to Birmingham Woolley(?) sword makers, on the blade edge. With iron and brass stirrup hilt and ribbed iron grip. No scabbard.
