ESTATE ITEM British Army COMMANDO FAIRBAIRN-SYKES FIGHTING KNIFE Dagger Stiletto Estate Item. I am not an expert on British Cammando Fighint Knives, so I have had to do some research. I believe that British Commandos performed raids in Occupied Europe, and also led the D-Day invasion in Normandy. A special fighting knife was developed for their needs. It was designed by the legendary Captain William Fairbairn. This is called the "Fairbairn-Sykes" fighting knife, as it came to be known. It was perfectly balanced, and was ideal for cutting, thrusting, and slashing in combat . "It became an instant classic, symbolizing the hard fighting Brits of WW2. US Army troops, such as Rangers and other special forces, also used the Fairbairn-Sykes commando knife, " I believe from other pictures on Ebay that this is the 3rd model. This is an Original British Army WW2 COMMANDO FAIRBAIRN-SYKES FIGHTING KNIFE that is in very good condition. I see NO sharpening, nicks, chipping, shortening, or damage of any kind to the full length blade. BLADE is extremely Sharp . Knife , in my judgement retains over 50% of its original blued OR blacked finish. It has the classic ridged brass handle, brass guard, and integral brass pommel with ball finial end that distinguish the Fairbairn-Sykes. It is stamped "ENGLAND" at the underside of the guard.
