P.W.V.) - Military Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. Victorian issue (2473 John, Spillane. 82nd Foot.)- Turkey: Crimea Medal 'British' rev. Pierced with ring & loop (2423 J. Spillane. 82nd Regt) Note: The medals all named in the customary and contemporary styles / types for this regiment in this period as under; - British Crimea Medal: Is regimentally (or if you prefer 'Depot') impressed - Long Service and Good Conduct Medal: Officially impressed - Turkish Crimea Medal: Contemporary privately engraved Note: Contact marks throughout commensurate with age and wear by recipient and with some remnants of old protective laquer. The Long Service medal with neatly refixed claw. The Turkish Crimea Medal fitted with contemporary customised looped and slotted suspension (see image) John Spillane a native of the Parish of Cahir , Cahirciveen , Co Kerry Ireland was 23 years of age, and by 'Trade' a 'Labourer' when he attested for service with the British Army at Cahirciveen, on 2 January 1847.
