Old British Victorian Canteen as used in the Zula Wars I do not know the age or history of this item. It did come with the green tag in one of the pictures stating that this item is as described to the best of my knowledge as being a British Zula Wars Canteen . I did some research and did find some similiar canteens as used during this era so I am describing this to the best of my knowledge. IF any one knows more about this item please feel free to contact me so that I may make any corrections to this listing. I know there are a lot of history buffs out there that have more knowledge about these canteens than I do. It measures 61/2" height and is 4" across at the bottom. I do see old type nails in the metal and I do not know if the covering is real wood it does appear to be. Has a white strap either leather or vinyl. I tend to believe it is leather as it is soft and not hard and is easily moveable. The top is a metal screw type lid to the opening of the canteen. There are no markings that I can find of the maker. This item is in used but very good condition no rust on the metal no wood chips, the strap looks worn but is still in good condition and has a buckle for adjustment. Thanks for looking @ sugarshackantiques . Please feel free to ask any questions before bidding. Paypal only.
