British WWII No4 MKII SMLE Spike Bayonet Singer Manufacture MK1 ScabbardOverall Length- 10in. Blade Length- 7.5in Condition- GoodOriginal British made No.4 MKII Spike Bayonet. These were the most proliferative bayonet used by British forces in WWII. Developed over 20 years of research to be simpler and replace the bulkier and more cumbersome Pattern 1907 bayonet. Government factories were already at capacity with production of firearms and munitions so all production of these bayonets were contracted to companies not usually used to making armament. This particular bayonet was manufactured by the Singer Corporation in Scotland. Solid forged steel this bayonet remains nicely blued and has the distinct cruciform blade. Comes with a MK1 Scabbard that has seen better days. The mouth of the scabbard was made of Mazak(Zinc Alloy) which was the most common but unfortunately has broken on this scabbard. The finish of the scabbard remains in good condition considering its age. Overall the bayonet and scabbard are in good condition.
