for your consideration is a bronze bust of famous composer,Wilhelm Richard Wagner, 1813-1883. The bronze work is approx. 5 1/2" tall and with the marble stand included, the total height is 8" tall. This work is signed by famous sculptor, Hans Muller, 1873-1937. His name, (Muller's) from the rear, is cast on the left shoulder (two dots over the "U"). Wagner's name is in block letters directly below his vest, on the front. T is a beautiful patina on this piece with no damage of any type. Wilhelm Richard Wagner ( May 22 , 1813 - February 13 , 1883 ) was an influential German composer , conductor , music theorist , and essayist , primarily known for his operas (or " music dramas " as he later came to call them). Wagner's compositions, particularly those of his later period, are notable for their contrapuntal texture , rich chromaticism , harmonies and orchestration , and elaborate use of leitmotifs : themes associated with specific characters, locales, or plot elements. Wagner's chromatic musical language prefigured later developments in European classical music , including extreme chromaticism and atonality .
