Bronze 'Participation' Medal 1900 Paris Exposition / Olympic Games by Chaplain Description Bronze Medal given at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, which incorporated the Second Modern Olympiad. I would judge this example to be in very fine to extremely fine (VF-EF) condition, but please have a good look at my photographs and form your own opinions of its condition. Made from Bronze, Diameter 63 mm, Thickness 4 mm, Weight approx 105 grams, Designed in the Art Nouveau style by Jules-Clment Chaplain, one of the foremost medallists of the time. This is one of the medals which collectors of Olympic Participation Medals collect in the absence of an official OPM for the first Paris Games (besides medals by Roty and Vernon ). These were the only Olympics not to issue a participation medal specifically for athletes and officials at the Games. For a useful (if somewhat out of date) introduction to OPMS covering both Summer and Winter Olympic games, see the following website: /OPMedals/index.htm Further information on medals given at summer games only can be found on this website: http://olympic-museum.de/quickview/all_partmed.htm Shipping is by tracked mail (Royal Mail International Signed-For, or Special Delivery in the UK). All my medals are guaranteed genuine. Please see also my other Olympic Participation and other sports read more
